We got in later than expected to Rivertown Campground in Vicksburg, MS because of some unfortunate events on the way there that you can read about here. I called ahead to let them know that we would be late, and they left our paperwork and spot assignment outside the office doors. It was after dark when we got in, and we had no idea what to expect. Luckily, we found a nice wide pull-through spot waiting for us. It was great because we didn’t have to worry about maneuvering around in the dark!
In the morning, we checked out the park during the day. It was a nice wide open campground with small trees planted between each spot. Because of the time of year, it wasn’t too crowded, and there was no one to the right or left of us. It was really nice to have that much space as opposed to some other places we’ve stayed where we are packed in there.
The office was a small building at the entrance to the park. The lady working when I paid for our stay was friendly. They even have a CD audio tour of Vicksburg National Military Park that loan out to guests. The RV Park was located a just 10 miles from the military park, the main attraction in the area.
There was a pool on the premises, which we didn’t use because it wasn’t warm enough outside. We did take advantage of their propane fill service. I also used the laundry room, which I found to be quite spacious.
We would recommend Rivertown Campground and stay there again if we were ever back in the area.
